Have you ever imagined having a mom that lets you hang out at a chic place, prepares you a feast, and is way too cool that she lets you unwind with a drink in your hand, anytime of the day?

Hmmm… Well Mamma Mia is exactly like that. This newly opened restaurant at the heart of Uptown Mall in BGC offers authentic Italian dishes, desserts, and yes, a variety of drinks. Giulius Iapino, president of Rigatoni Corp, the company behind Mamma Mia said he wanted to introduce to the Filipinos an Italian dining culture that lets anyone stay, eat, and drink for as long as they want, because it’s perfectly fine that way. This one stop shop is ideal for everyone for every occasion and for every mood. As for the ambiance, it deeply sets the mood for everyone’s appetite – well lit interiors by day, dim with groovy music and a live DJ by night.

Their long list of food offerings can clearly keep one busy all day, which may be the exact reason why they want us to spend our entire day eating. Modern and traditional Italian dishes from pasta, pizza, anti-pasti, and bar chow to fish and meat dishes are on the menu alongside a list of Italian wines and liquors, beers and cocktails.

Let’s start it off with their satisfying antipasti.

For the meat lovers, this Italian Bacon and Meatball Bomb would be the best bet. Bite into the zesty flavor of bacon and meatballs in marinara sauce. All flavors are sure to burst altogether in the mouth! Yummy!

The Deep Fried Melon and Pumpkin wrapped in Proscuitto Al Forno and the Caprese are for those looking for healthier options, which by the way, taste just as good as they look in the photos!

Pasta will always be one of the staples in an Italian restaurant. A serving of the Spaghetti Carbonara Alla Mamma Mia is full of rich, authentic bacon and egg spaghetti with parmesan cheese, black pepper, and pancetta. Oh, and the generous, creamy cheese topping will remind you of why you love carbonara in the first place.

Pizza Pizza Pizza! It was a delight to try two of their best sellers – the Crema Di Tartufo con Proscuitto Crudo, pizza topped with truffle cream sauce, proscuitto, mozarella cheese, and a whole egg right at the center and the Mortadella E Pistacchio which is surprisingly an interesting combination of meat, cheese, and pistacchio that left all of us wanting more! What we love most about their pizza is that even the crust is oozing with cheese, among other special ingredients!

After a hearty meal, let’s not forget that one delicious Italian dessert that will complete the Mamma Mia experience – gelato! Although we were not able to capture the delicious flavors through photographs, rest assured that they have a wide variety of flavors to choose from, ranging from salted caramel to espresso to mint! To make up for the lack of a sweet ending, we instead share with you the fruit shakes we had during our visit – Watermelon, Lychee, and Mango.

Our favorite was the Lychee, which tasted really authentic and fresh!

If we could express our feelings through a song, this phrase from Mamma Mia would perfectly summarize everything, Mamma Mia, how can I resist you? Mamma Mia, now I really know, my my, I could never let you go. Although Mamma Mia was still on soft opening when we visited, it was such a wonderful experience that we cannot wait for them to go full course!
