A quick drive to Tipsy Pig Gastro Pub for lunch one slow and drizzling Friday unraveled some wonderful surprises for our restless tastebuds. Tipsy Pig, nestled quietly among the many old and new restaurants in Forbestown Town Centre, offers an array of pumped up comfort food you can enjoy with friends and family over a bottle or two of your favorite beer. Tread carefully, you are bound to order up a storm because it’s pretty darn difficult to choose from the menu!!!
After much painstaking deliberation, we went for some of their crowd favorites and staff recommendations.
To start, we had Belly Good Sisig Tacos. The crispy belly makes for a very good sisig base and each serving wrapped in tortilla is oozing with the flavor of soy and garlic. Squeeze kalamansi over it and it turns into a bite-size sisig party in your mouth. Can’t wait to try their Sisig taco platter on our next visit!
Up next we had Crispy River Prawn with Salted Egg Butter. Just by its name, the dish held so much promise which we are happy to report were fulfilled to our delight! The salted egg in the butter sauce gave it a rich taste without overpowering the prawn and the salted egg salad on the side provided a perfect balance in both taste and texture. It was so good we could lick off all the sauce from the serving plate! We could eat this all day!
Tipsy Pig also has a good range of pizzas and we decided to go light with their Vineyard Pizza. If you like your pizza crust with more of a toasted bread texture, you will like this one. Topped with roasted garlic spread, tomato confit, Prosciutto, Mozzarella, grapes and fresh basil, it’s a good complement to the bold flavor of the other dishes we ordered.
Our heavyweight of the day was the Pulling me Crispy – a duet of tender and flavorful pulled pork lechon and crispy lechon belly with special lechon sauce!!! Served with French beans and white rice, our choice of main course truly made us tipsy (bordering on drunk) on our love for pork.
To end our meal on a sweet note the lovely staff served us their Lava Cake. Despite the feast we just had we saved some room for this classic dessert of molten chocolate cake with warm chocolate ganache topped with vanilla ice cream.
Thank you Tipsy Pig! We will definitely be back!
